Google+: How to mute a post on Google+ mobile app

This is a continueation of THIS blog post explaining how to stop notifications. This is how to do it on the mobile Google+ app for Android.

I keep seeing people complaining about getting notifications from a post. I sometimes even see people leave a comment telling everyone to stop replying to the post because they are tired of getting the notifications.

There is a MUTE function on Google+ that you can  use to stop the notifications from coming in.
To mute a post using the Google+ mobile app, post up the post you want to mute. On the top right corner, there is a option icon (dots). Hit that, and you will get a pull down menu with the option to mute.

If you want to know how to mute a post on the Google+ website, go HERE.

Muting a post will stop all notifications for that one post from coming in. You can also choose to unmute the post later on to continue receiving notifications later onl.

Cheers

Review: MyAppSharer - A Must Have !

I love this app. Its uses go far beyond what it was originally meant for, which is of course, sharing your applications.

When you shared an app with your friend in the past using older apps, it would simply direct your friends to the market where they would download the app. With MyAppSharer, you still had that option. In addition to sending your friends a link to the market place, you can now send them the APK file directly.

Launching MyAppSharer will open up a screen with a list off all your installed apps. From this screen, you can scroll through your apps and check one, or multiple apps you want to share with your friends.
On the top of the screen, it gives you a choice to search through all your apps by simplying typing in your search string. There's also an option for you to choose if you want to send them a link, or send them the actual APK file so they can install it directly from you.

$100 off any Android tablets from Staples

For everyone living down south, all you lucky Americans get to use this coupon to get $100 off any Android tablets available at Staples ! I got super excited and was about to print this baby out and run down the street to the local Staples here in Vancouver.... but then I saw the valid through 7/30/2011 in Staples U.S. stores only.

So I share with everyone else out there and will live vicariously through all you people. Go print this baby out, and head to a Staples near you before the 30th and pick up an Android tablet !

Click on the couple below to go to the actual Staples website. It's not a picture of a coupon when you go to the site. It looks like the site generates a coupon depending on where you are from or something. Sometimes the barcode in the middle didn't load and I had to reload, so print out the coupon from the Staples website instead of printing out this image:
I'm having some problems making the image link to the site, so if it ends up not working, click HERE !!!!

Here's a list of Android Tablets available at Staples:

If I were you use this coupon, I would definately check out the Asus Transformer tablet.... it is SEXY !

Happy shopping lucky @#$%^ !!!

Cheers !

Google+ Android app gets an update

It looks like the Google+ app for the Android OS has gotten an update. The current version now is v1.0.2, and it's packed full of new features, most of which have to do with the huddle feature.

Here's the list of recent changes in this new version from the market place:
* Customize the main stream view to show streams from individual circles
* Fixed some issues encoutered by users with the Swype keyboard
* Set permissions for who can start a huddle with you (Anyone, Your Circles, Extended Circles)
* If someone you've never huddled with before invites you to a group huddle, you can now dismiss the invitation
* New UI allows adding multiple people or entire circles to a huddle
* Set photo as wallpaper
* Performance improvements and bug fixes throughout the app

I love being able to choose which circle gets streamed on my stream window !!.. LOVE IT !!!

Go give it a download on the market and check it out !

Cheers !

Another Android Market Facelift

It looks like the Android Marketplace is about to get another facelift. There isn't much to say about this other than you will be able to rent movies and books now.

That said, I don't expect people outside the United States to get this facelift. When ever there is anything to do with video and what not, there's a bunch of red tape, and people outside the United States don't usually get to watch and enjoy (like Hulu.com).

Ehhh.. Anyways, keep your eyes peeled for the new update. It looks to be a good one !

Swiftkey X is out of Beta !

SwiftKey X beta was great. I loved it. I loved everything about it. I loved never making a typing mistake ever again when I typed.

It was a smart keyboard that kept learned as you typed. When you enter a word that was not in the dictionary, it would automatically add it to the dictionary. If you typed a word, and the prediction it had was wrong, all you had to do was remove that predicted word from the database, teach it the right prediction, and you were good to go.

From that point on, you will never make a mistake typing anything ever again. I say after about three days of teaching it, as long as you hit the general location of the letters for the word you are trying to type, SwiftKey will correct it for you.

I just downloaded the newest version of SwiftKey X out of beta, and am loving it so much I decided to type this all from SwiftKey. The keyboard actually makes you want to type to test how good it is.

During the beta, there were some problems though. I had a problem with it where if I typed too fast, the keyboard would spell my words wrong. It would literally delete the last letter of the word I typed if I hit space too fast.

I posted the problem on their support site and supplemented the post with a video. On youtube demonstrating the problem.

You can find my post here, and my video below.
The problem demonstrated in the video is now FIXED !

With in a few days I had a comment on my youtube video telling me they would work on it. That same day I got an email telling me the post on the site changed its status to planned.  Two days later I got another email telling me the problem was fixed and would be in the next release. I've been waiting for the update ever since.

The very day it came out of beta, I bought it and am now typing this to you guys.

Happy Birthday Swiftkey ! Go download the keyboard today on the market !. its only 1.99 for the next 48 hrs.

Old video from Google I/O 2010 - Jab at Apple

I'm watching an old video from Google I/O 2010 where Vic Gundotra demos Android 2.2.

It's an old video, but it was a good speech. Some of the some he demo'd is still very "wow" this day. However, the reason I'm making this post is because I particularly love the jabs he makes at Apple... Partticularly this video where he demo's Android's hotspot feature and takes a jab at the iPad:

He makes a bunch of jabs at Apple through out the demo. Here's a link to the full demo, Enjoy:
"Boom"
